Artmongers raises money for LEWiSHAM School of Muralism

New School of Muralism “Crowdfounded” in London

The city of London has a brand new school of muralism thanks to Artmongers and a community that values creativity. The idea was propelled by a successful crack at arts crowdfunding which could perhaps also be called a “crowdfounding”.

The organization dubbed The LEWiSHAM School of Muralism raised £62,205 from 293 Spacehive backers. Their pledge is to train up to 36 young people to design, paint, and upkeep art murals, and to then create and maintain six new murals in the borough of Lewisham.

“By the time Lewisham becomes the London Borough of Culture in 2022, we will have new teams of young muralists ready to make the most of this great opportunity”

These difficult months brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic make efforts like this especially important. The vibrance of the new murals will undoubtedly be an uplifting addition to the cityscape of London.
