If you’re a fan of film, TV, or any other form of digital media, you won’t want to miss this! Legion M is a fan-owned entertainment company with projects like Tolkien and Memory: The Origin of Alien on its slate.
World’s First Fan-Owned Entertainment Company
Legion M is the first of its kind, an entertainment company designed to be owned by fans. Entertainment companies are notorious for their elite managers who hold all the strings when it comes to what script to make next. But not Legion M! The company’s fan-owned business model lets its investors (you!) have a say in their next production.
The goal is to bring together one million film and TV fans as investors and then use those fans to boost their opening weekends, premieres, and release dates. What makes more sense than a film company owned by a million film fans? But Legion M isn’t just about film. It works on any entertainment media, such as The Left Right Game, a science-fiction audio podcast.
‘Disruptive New Crowdfunding Rules’
The fan-owned entertainment company uses a twist on the crowdfunding concept to gain investors — equity crowdfunding. The idea has been in use for decades, but up until now, it’s only been accessible to the rich and elite. However, new laws came into effect in 2012 that allow anyone and everyone to buy shares in PRE-IPO startups. You no longer need $1 million to your name; you can invest in Legion M for as little as $100.
The entertainment company crowdfunds via WeFunder, with the lowest tier being $100 and the highest tier way above that, at $5,000. Lower tier investors get Investor Access, which includes premiere tickets, set tours, and more. You also get a choice between a Round 7 Investor t-shirt, $20 credit with one of several entertainment companies (including Legion M), or 20% bonus shares. Higher tier investors get higher credit, higher bonus shares, t-shirts, Zoom calls with the Legion M team, and much more.
